If you're a fan of classic chocolate chip cookies but want a quicker and easier way to enjoy that delightful flavor, chocolate chip cookie bars are the answer to your cravings. These cookie bars are a heavenly marriage of gooey, chewy, and chocolatey goodness, all wrapped up in a convenient and satisfying package. Let's dive into a simple and irresistible chocolate chip cookie bar recipe that will have your taste buds dancing with joy.
Ingredients:
170gms unsalted butter, melted
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 ½ cups chocolate chips (a mix of milk and dark)
Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures the cookie bars bake evenly and to perfection.
Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and packed brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. This step creates the base for the rich flavor and perfect texture of the bars.
Incorporate Wet Ingredients: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, add the vanilla extract and blend until the wet ingredients are fully combined.
Sift and Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. This helps prevent lumps and ensures even distribution of dry ingredients. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Add Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Gently fold in the chocolate chips, allowing the gooey chocolate goodness to be evenly distributed throughout the dough. If you're a fan of added texture and flavor, mix in chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans.
Spread and Bake: Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and spread the cookie dough evenly into it. Press it down gently to ensure an even layer. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 25 to 30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Cool and Cut: Once out of the oven, allow the cookie bars to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. This step helps them firm up and makes cutting them easier. After they've cooled slightly, cut the bars into your desired size—whether you prefer bite-sized squares or generous rectangles.
