Oats and Wheat Flour Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

265ml (1 cup + 1 tbsp) hot water

80g (1 cup) oats

82g (1/2 cup) jaggery (Gud)

6g (2 tsp) yeast

20g (2 1/2 tbsp) milk powder

260g (2 cups) wheat flour

3g (1/2 tsp) salt

15gm butter (1 tbsp)

Instructions:

In a large mixing bowl, pour the medium-hot water and add the oats. Mix well.

Add the jaggery to the oats mixture and stir until the jaggery is fully incorporated. Allow the mixture to cool down to lukewarm temperature.

Once cooled, add the yeast to the oats and jaggery mixture. Mix thoroughly to ensure the yeast is evenly distributed.

Add the milk powder, wheat flour, and salt to the mixture. Stir until all the ingredients are combined and a soft dough forms.

Add melted butter to the dough and knead until the dough becomes soft and elastic.

Grease the  bowl with butter and place the dough in it. Cover the bowl with a clean cloth or plastic wrap and let the dough rise for about 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.

Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F).

Once the dough has doubled in size, grease a 500g bread mold with butter.

Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in the prepared bread mold.

Brush the top of the loaf with milk and sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of oats over it.

Cover the bread mold with a clean cloth or plastic wrap and let it rise for another 30 minutes.

After the second rise, place the bread mold in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing and serving. Enjoy your homemade oats and wheat flour bread!
