To Beef or Not To Beef?

Bistecca alla Fiorentina or Florentine T-Bone Steak is one of the most famous steaks in the world, a delicacy from the city of Florence.

Traditionally derived from the Chianina cattle breed, the steak is thick, juicy, tender and usually weighs up to 6 pounds (4kg), measuring as large as 4 fingers.

Originating in Florence centuries ago, this steak has precise rules on how it needs to be cooked and served: it must be seared on high heat, cooked and served rare and it needs no seasonings, apart from salt and pepper (and some olive oil).

We have met with a Florence grill master that has explained to us all the secrets of this world-famous steak, how to cook it and how to best enjoy it. But be aware: once you try it, you’re not going to like anything else!
