The soda is added into the cake, along with some fresh pineapple juice, pineapple extract, butter eggs, sugar, flour, and leavening. After the cake is baked, it is drizzled with a pineapple icing on to the sides, middle and top of the cake. This recipe calls for 20 or more servings as it's a pound cake of course.
