New Orleans native Charlie Andrews demonstrates how to make a Hummingbird cake from scratch. This cake originated in Jamacia but it's also popular in the southern United states. It is also referred to as the "doctor bird cake", which is named after the islands national bird, the scissors-tail hummingbird. It consists of a 3-layer banana pineapple cake coated with a sweet cream cheese frosting and roasted pecans. This is my version of the cake. You can get 15 slices out of it since it's a 3 layered cake. Wonderful, banana pineapple flavor, soft, moist and absolutely delicious. Hope you all will give this classic cake a try.
