How to make a soft and fluffy Cream Cheese Bread pillows.
Here's what you'll need:
1 egg
3/4 cup milk (180ml)
2 tbsp sugar (30g)
2 tbsp milk powder (20g)
1 tsp instant yeast (3g)
2 and 1/2 cup bread flour or all purpose flour (312g)
1/2 tsp salt (3g)
2 tbsp butter
TOPPING (optional)
2 tbsp cream cheese (20g)
1 tbsp butter (10g)
1/2 tbsp milk
1 tsp cornstarch
FILLING:
About 1/2 cup spreadable cream cheese, any brand will do :)
1. In a mixing bowl, mix together milk, egg, sugar, milk powder and yeast.
2. Add flour and salt. Mix until the dough forms.
3. Add softened butter and mix until butter is fully absorbed.
4.Transfer to a lightly floured counter. Knead, slap and fold until smooth and elastic.
5. Smooth into a ball and coat with oil.
6. Cover for 45-60 minutes or until doubled in size.
7. Then deflate the proofed dough by punching the air out.
8. Divide into 4 equal size.
9. Smooth each dough into a ball. Bench rest for 10 minutes with cover.
10. Roll out each dough ball into a rectangular shape.
11. Spread about 2 to 3 tablespoons of spreadable cream cheese.
12. Fold and roll tightly. Pinch the edges to seal.
13. Place in a greased baking loaf dish or pan.
14. Cover for 30 minutes.
15. Make the topping: Mix cream cheese, butter, milk and cornstarch until well incorporated.
16. Pipe on top of proofed dough.
17. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C/350°F for 25-30minutes.
18. Brush with melted butter for a softer crust.
19. Serve and enjoy!
