RECIPE: https://anitacooks.com/real-strawberry-frosting/ No Food Coloring - Real Strawberry Frosting. Hi Guys, today I’ll show you How to Make Real Strawberry Frosting. This is the best strawberry frosting and tastes like strawberries not pink food coloring. I went strawberry picking recently and got a ton of red ripe juicy berries. We couldn’t eat them fast enough so I figured I’d make a few things before they spoil.
We’ll need strawberries, softened butter, softened cream cheese, vanilla extract and powdered sugar. One beetroot is optional and I’ll explain that in a minute. First we’ll make the strawberry puree which will give the frosting the pure strawberry flavor. Wash and hull the strawberries. Cut them in half and put them in a blender. Process until smooth. Gorgeous bright red strawberry puree. Pour this into a saucepan. Cook until reduced by half. Stir occasionally as it will foam up. Now it’s reduced down and thick. This is a very concentrated strawberry flavor. Pour this into a measuring cup and let it cool completely. Refrigerate this overnight so it’s very cold to add to the frosting the next day. Adding the puree to the frosting will make the color a pale pink and it’ll taste perfect. But if you want the color to get a little darker pink without using food coloring, here’s what I do. Take one beetroot and peel it. Grate it on a box grater or your food processor. Put it into your blender and process it. Use little to no water, just enough for the beets to be finely chopped. Put it in a sieve and press out the juice. You can also put the grated beets in cheesecloth and squeeze out the juice into a bowl. If the beets are very fresh, you don’t even have to blend it, just squeeze after grating. If you have a powerful juicer, cut the beet into small chunks and juice them, it will save you time and effort.
To make a smooth frosting, sift the powdered sugar. Use a hand or stand mixer for this recipe. Add the soft butter to your mixing bowl. Cream that until smooth. Add the soft cream cheese and cream that until smooth, about a minute. Add vanilla extract and mix. Then a little strawberry puree. Mix that until combined. Scrape down the bowl when you need to. Add half of the powdered sugar and mix. You see the color of the frosting is pale pink. Now add some of the beet juice and more powdered sugar. The color is now a brighter, perfect shade of pink frosting. I can’t tell you how good this tastes, you absolutely have to make it. It’s not overly sweet, you can really taste the strawberries. Use it to frost cakes and cupcakes. Even people who don’t usually like frosting will love this frosting. I hope you guys like this recipe and give it a try. Subscribe and I’ll see you next time.
